To visit the historic center of Bologna start from the two squares of Piazza Maggiore with San Petronio Basilica and Piazza del Nettuno with the famous Neptun fountain, decorated with bronze statues by Giambologna.

Did you know that there were almost two hundred towers in Bologna? Today just two of them are left: the Torre degli Asinelli and Torre Garisenda. They are both leaning towers and you can visit Torre degli Asinelli and enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the roofs and hills of Bologna from its top if you are not scared by the 500-step ascent.

After lunch, your driver will take you to Ferrara, a majestic walled town, realm of the d’Este dynasty. Still today Ferrara is surrounded by more than 6 miles of perfectly preserved ancient walls.

The top attraction is by far the Castello Estense, an impressive medieval castle, icon of the town, with moats, drawbridges and towers. The center of Ferrara is between Castello Estense and the Duomo, that is San Giorgio Cathedral. In front of the cathedral stands the medieval Palazzo Municipale.

The most important square of the city is Piazza Trento and Trieste, originally known as Piazza delle Erbe, the heart of the historic center of Ferrara. The square now houses the town market as well as numerous cultural events during the year.
