A tampon is no longer needed to enter Italy. Health Minister Roberto Speranza signed a new ordinance which provides, “starting from 1 March, for arrivals from all non-European countries the same rules already in force for European countries. To enter the national territory, one of the conditions of the green pass will be sufficient: vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or negative test

If you’re planning to travel to Italy, here you will find useful information.

The most important restrictions concern the List E countries. For all the other countries it is easy to enter Italy even for tourism.

To enter Italy during this covid emergency period, first of all identify which list is your country

List A – Vatican City and Republic of San Marino

List B – The States and territories with low epidemiological risk will be identified, among those in List C, by the Ordinance. At present, no state is included on this list.

List C – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark (including the Faroe Islands and Greenland), Estonia, Finland, France (including Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion, Mayotte and excluding other territories outside the European mainland), Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands (excluding territories outside the European mainland), Poland, Portugal (including the Azores and Madeira), Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including territories on the African continent), Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Andorra, Principality of Monaco.

List D – Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Peru, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (including Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British bases on the island of Cyprus and excluding territories outside mainland Europe), Republic of Korea, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions.

List E – Rest of the world – (all States and Territories not specifically referred to in any other list).

 

List A

For these countries there is no limitation nor dPLF declaration requirement.

These certificates can be shown in paper or digital format.

List B

Movements to and from these countries are allowed without any certification of motivation for travelling.

At present, no State is included on this list.

List C

Free movement is allowed to and from these countries for any reason, therefore also for tourism, as long as you have not stayed in or passed through one of the countries on List E in the 14 days prior to entering Italy.

List D

Anyone who has stayed or passed through one of the countries on List D in the 14 days prior to entering Italy without self-isolation (5 days) must comply with the following regulations:

  • fill out the Passenger Locator Form prior to entering Italy. 
  • undergo a molecular swab carried out within 72 hours prior to entry into Italy and the result of which is negative, or an antigenic test carried out within 24 hours prior to entry into Italy, the result of which is negative. In the case of arrivals from the UK and Northern Ireland and British Isles, the molecular swab must be taken in the 48 hours prior to entering Italy
  • present the COVID-19 Green Certificate, or equivalent certificate. 

List E

Entry into Italy from these countries does not require any authorization from the Ministry of Health but is allowed only for specific reasons:

  • work
  • health reasons
  • study reasons
  • absolute urgency
  • return to one’s domicile, home, or residence. 

From these countries it is not possible to enter Italy for tourism reasons
